2014 Gala PerformanceTuesday night saw the culmination of many weeks of practise for our private Instrumental and Vocal students. They joined with Year 10 and 11 Music students to perform for one night only in the Theatre.
The audience was entertained by singers, pianists, guitarists, drummers, woodwind and brass, and the beautiful harp. The repertoire was very broad, from modern to classical, and even a number of original student compositions were performed for the very first time in public.
With many students now having their first public performance under their belt, we hope to see them all perform more regularly in 2015.
GCCC Student selected for Music and Culture Exchange in China
We would like to congratulate Hamish White (Year 7) who has been selected to represent Sunshine Coast youth musicians in China in 2015.
The Sunshine Coast Council in association with the Sister Cities Association will take thirty 13-16 year olds from across the Coast to Xiamen in April to perform at various schools and venues in the city and to participate in daily cultural exchanges with local students. In return, Xiamen plan to send a delegate of student musicians to the Sunshine Coast in 2016.
Hamish plays the Tenor Saxophone in the GCCC Secondary Band and also for the All Stars Concert Band on the Coast.
