This last term of the year has been a wonderful time of recognition and celebration.
There have been the big ticket items of Sports Awards, Eagle Awards, and the Presentation Ceremony. It has been no less special though to attend the Music and Dance nights showcasing our students’ artistic talents that have been developed over this year. Not to outdo these key events, however, in small pockets around the school there have been special wins, moments, and memories made as students have also polished up and completed speeches, practical projects, artwork with amazing artist statements that tug at the heartstrings, videos advertising products, and fundraising stalls, to mention a few of them.
This last week coming up will be a way to celebrate, and consolidate. For students to share with each other as they wrap up their memories of the year. Every part of the year’s journey is important from those first few new nerve-wracking days to the hard and diligent weeks of slogging through building skills and expertise in their studies and other extra-curricular pursuits and culminating in completing assessments and showcasing their achievements.
Teenagers are not always great at letting us know about all of these special things but I encourage you to ask them. Sometimes it may feel like there is a standoff and they don’t want to share but don’t forget to acknowledge and celebrate your child’s achievements, no matter how small. Recognizing their efforts builds confidence and reinforces a positive attitude toward learning and growth.
Thank you parents and family members for working with and alongside us this year as we help to guide, shape, direct, inspire, and encourage your child.
I wish you all a safe and blessed Christmas season.
