Middle School News – Term 3

Reports, Certificates and Parent Teacher Interviews

I trust all parents were able to view their child’s report card over the past week. Please contact Secondary Admin if you need assistance with this.

Congratulations and well done to students who achieved a certificate for the following this week from their Semester One reports:

  • Academic – ‘A’ in at least ½ or more of the subjects studied in Semester 1
  • Diligence – ‘V’ in all/all but 1 of the subjects studied in Semester 1

If you were unable to make a booking with one of your child’s teachers for a parent teacher interview but would still like to speak with them, please email and they can ring you at a mutually convenient time.

Athletics Carnival is coming up next Friday 24 July. Due to Covid-19 there will be no onsite canteen for the day but students can order from the school tuckshop via Flexischools and it will be delivered out at 10:30am and 1:00 pm. An online order MUST be completed before 8:30am if they would like to use this service.

Camps

Year 8 and 9 have their camps in Week 3 of this term from 27 – 31 July. It’s important students come adequately prepared with a warm sleeping bag and clothing for the cooler weather. Camps are an integral part of the Year 8 and 9 GCC program and all students are expected to attend.

Assemblies and Chapels

These have changed over the past two terms with students meeting in Year Levels. Coming up in Week 5 is the Middle School Captain speech assembly for Year 8 prospective captains for 2021 and in Week 7 will be a combined Middle and Senior School Legacy Cup LipSync battle assembly in the Sports Centre.

Unlimited Program for Year 8s

Our College Pastors are running a program for all Year 8 students during their Pastoral Care lesson this term. It focuses on positive approaches to life both individually and in supporting their peers.

Uniform

There will be a uniform and hair check this week on Thursday. Please note that from the start of 2021 the rules for the formal shoe with a heel will be in place. This is a reminder about this as new shoes are purchased that will be used into 2021.
