On Wednesday 18 September, GCCC sent a group of seven Year 11 students to the “Masterclass” seminar held by the Bible Society at Mueller College. This seminar runs every year and aims to help students to engage with the Bible and apply it to their everyday lives.
This year, our students were encouraged as future Christian Student Leaders to take hold of their faith and do something powerful in their lives. The topics of the Masterclass included:
Christianity – Living as a Christian in the “I” world.
The Bible and Science – What are they for? What questions do they answer?
Christianity – Seeking the right to speak.
Living the greatest story ever told.
Two of the ‘stand out’ speakers of the day were: Andrew “Fishtail” Fisher and Matt Prater. The former being the lead racing driver of the Jesus Racing Team in the V8 Supercars and the latter being a Senior Pastor who recently shot into the public eye during Q&A when he asked former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd some tough questions about his understanding of the bible.
The students really enjoyed the day meeting with like-minded students from other Christian schools around southeast Queensland and listening to such engaging speakers.
We can be very proud of the way the year 11s conducted themselves on the day. Representing our school and its GREAT values very clearly. We were also the most entertaining group attending, with one of our members being called on stage to do a dance routine at the end of the day (this may or may not end up on YouTube).
After the Seminar we had the opportunity to pray together as a group, thanking God for the great day we had enjoyed, the powerful teaching we had listened too, and the fun had by all. We also prayed that God would help us to apply what we had learned into our lives, that He might make us powerful leaders in the future for His Kingdom’s sake.
And of course, the bus trip home was filled with sharing our favorite songs and telling tasteless jokes.
Praise God for an awesome day!
