Glasshouse Christian College had a massive weekend at the Maleny Show. Our students were huge winners in three different categories – Produce, Presentations and Poultry!
In Produce, we took out Grand Champion in the Fruit Collection along with nine first places, nine second places and three third places in the Produce section. The Year 10 students’ camembert, which was made from scratch, achieved one second and three third prizes.
Our Hospitality students also did wonders winning second prize for their Beetroot Relish in the highly contested preserves section. However, the biggest win would have to be the combined Agricultural Science, Hospitality and Kitchen Garden entry that saw everyone working together to create an amazing display that represented the College brilliantly.
Hospitality and Agricultural Science students presented incredibly well at the Maleny Small Farmers Tent at the show. Keeley and Lachlan demonstrated the art of making all Australian Scones that were absolutely delicious, and Kate, Jess and Claire talked about agricultural technology use on the farm. All students should be congratulated for their hard work and excellent presentation.
GCC students also got in among the poultry judging at the show and put their skills to the test to try and judge the very best of Rhode Island hens. Judge Geoff Robinson was incredibly informative and has kindly offered to assist with the future Agricultural Science poultry flock.
