What an incredible year of reading we had at GCC in 2025. Literacy Pro continues to be one of our key programs supporting reading growth across the College. The program helps assess students’ reading abilities, match them with books that are “just right,” and motivate them through tracking progress and celebrating milestones. Students choose books to read and earn points by completing quizzes, with their progress visible on their Literacy Pro dashboard, allowing staff and families to cheer them on as they develop their love of reading.
In 2025, students in Years 3-6 read an impressive 114,260,572 words, averaging 38,513 words per student. Many reached or exceeded their reading targets and demonstrated outstanding Lexile growth throughout the year. Our Semester 2 Literacy Pro Award recipients, recognised for their outstanding Lexile Growth, Points Earned, and Words Read, are listed on the Students and Families Literacy Pro Gateway page.
We celebrated 25 Literacy Pro Millionaire Readers, who marked their achievements in style at the end of the year party. A special congratulations to Ivy Lange, who set a new record by reading 8,435,075 words, earning a well-deserved place as a Literacy Pro Record Holder.
As we begin another exciting year, we look forward to seeing our students set new goals, discover new stories, and continue their journey as confident and capable readers. Here’s to another wonderful year of reading success at GCC!
