Welcome to the start of another exciting school year in Honours! I am delighted to be teaching Honours this year and I am very grateful for the warm welcome to the role from staff and students.
This term, we are placing a special emphasis on literature and mathematical investigations, offering students the opportunity to delve deeper into these academic areas and explore new perspectives and ideas.
In our literature groups, students will have the opportunity to study literary works, analysing themes, characters, and narrative structure. The focus will be on fostering critical thinking and creative writing, encouraging students to find their own voices and perspectives. Our novel studies will engage our students in contemplating the big ideas of friendship, bravery, and identity, and challenge them to view these concepts through multiple lenses.
Our mathematical investigations will challenge students to think beyond the numbers, exploring the interplay between mathematics and the world around us. Through real-world examples and hands-on problem-solving, students will develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and learn to apply mathematical concepts to real-world scenarios.
Our weekly Honours lessons give our students opportunities to connect with like-minded students from across the primary school and to explore new interests and experiences. It is a fruitful time of deep conversations and extended thinking. I am looking forward to a great year and can’t wait to see all that our students will accomplish!
