Lily Short is enjoying the year of her life as she collects title after title in 2021!
Early in the year Lily won the Primary Age State Equestrian Championship and was selected to compete at the Nationals. Unfortunately this was cancelled again this year. In place of this, Inter-school Queensland and Pony Club Queensland hosted an invitational event for all riders who had qualified for Nationals. A very competitive group of around 50 riders competed over two days of competition.
Lily competed in the Individual Open aged class where she showed her fantastic ability to become Overall Champion! She even competed against adults and beat them. Along with this she also competed in two team events (herself and three other riders) over two different height classes and in both classes her team came home as the champion team. Lily rode representing Inter-School Queensland competing over two days in 12 different rounds and coming home with three champion rugs!
Lily was very excited to finish the competition year with wins at this high level. She is hoping the 2022 National Championships will be able to be held next year. Unfortunately, Lily is leaving our College at the end of the year but we will still be keeping a keen eye on her equestrian journey as she is a very talented young rider. We wish her all the best for next year.
