THE ANZAC STORY PERFORMANCE
Our Year 6 and 9 classes recently attended the live performance of the Anzac Story by Iconic Performances on Friday 15 May. The incursion took place in the GCC Theatre and was linked directly to the Australian National Curriculum, engaging students with authentic World War 1 objects and leaning experiences through interactive role-plays and improvisations. The multi-sensory show gave students an insight into the sights and sounds of war and the challenges and sorrows that many endured. Several students in both year levels had the opportunity to take part in the show as soldiers, stretcher-bearers, nurses and the voices of the fallen. They had the opportunity to work with the production team before the show to prepare for their roles and to receive their costumes. It was an unforgettable event and our students are to be congratulated on the way they took part and the empathy they displayed.
