Orange and yellow fruit and vegetables were the topic of discussion as we continued our ‘Eat a rainbow’ theme.
The aroma of freshly baked pumpkin scones filled the air in Kitchen Garden classes this fortnight. Almost all the children tried the warm scones with the “mmmm’s” and “yums” being heard far and wide.
Our chefs ended lessons looking as if they had been involved in some serious flour wrestling!
The sun was shining brightly and the air filled with the hint of spring as our busy gardeners planted seeds of pumpkin, cucumber and rockmelon. We harvested some enormous beetroots and mulched our strawberries and potatoes. A sneak peak under our potato bushes revealed a bumper crop which will be harvested in the next month or so.
You will find the recipe for pumpkin scones on the Kitchen Garden website www.gccckitchengarden.com.au along with the latest photos.
Enjoy the sunshine!
