What beautiful growing weather we have had! Our garden beds that were empty only a few short weeks ago are growing so quickly. We replenished the beds with lots of compost and lucerne mulch before planting zucchini, squash, corn, cucumber, tomatoes, beetroot, lettuce, rocket, spring onions, beans and lots of Asian greens.
During this term classes are learning how to read a recipe and use measurements correctly. Many of the students let out a sigh when I told them they would be doing some math but their sighs soon became cheers when they discovered that their measuring task involved making ‘cloud dough’. The ‘cloud dough’ was then weighed and measured using scales, measuring cups and measuring spoons; and of course it was fun to play with!
Our mini Master chef’s made parmesan and rosemary scones using our abundant fresh rosemary supply from the garden.
It has been wonderful to have so many volunteers coming to KG lessons in the last fortnight to help out and great to see so many friendly new faces.
Until next fortnight, happy gardening!
