It’s Week 2, and the hallowed halls of M block are once again filling with music. What will you overhear our students rehearsing as you’re passing by…? A graceful violin melody? Some raucous jazz? Or the BOOM of percussion?
No matter your preference, there may just be a band or choir waiting for you to join. GCC offers a number of school ensembles to suit a wide range of musical styles, abilities, and instruments. There are no auditions required and any student is welcome to join, however, some ensembles will require you to submit an expression of interest to the conductor first, just to check that the group will be the right fit for you.
Click here and scroll down to check the full list of ensembles, including age restrictions and instrument options.
GCC is also proud to offer private and group lessons with experienced, professional music tutors. We offer tuition on the following instruments:
- Strings (violin/cello)
- Piano
- Guitar/bass
- Woodwind (flute/oboe/clarinet/saxophone)
- Brass (trumpet/trombone / lower brass)
- Drums/percussion
- Voice
There are solo performance opportunities throughout the year, including SHINE (in Arts Week, Term 3 Week 2), assemblies, and instrument-specific recital nights. If you are new to GCC and you played an instrument or sang at your old school, we would absolutely love to welcome you into the music department and help find the best place for your talent and skill, so please send us an email!
