On Wednesday during Week 6, a team of GCC’s best long-distance runners represented at the District Cross Country carnival held at the Maroochydore Cricket grounds.
The races were held under perfect conditions and our runners dug deep to mix well with the best runners from 11 Sunshine Coast Independent Schools. This year nine GCC runners finished within the top 20 in their races.
The individual efforts of our cross country runners this year were exceptional especially given that each race consisted of up to 80 competitors.
Special mention should be made for Dominic Ruhle who finished third in his age division for the second year in a row. Dominic now has the opportunity to compete at regional level. Other top 10 finishers included Ryan Kossen seventh and Thomas Holley seventh.
Other students to represent GCC at this event were as follows: Jacob Barbeler, Astonn Becker, Reilly Becker, Chelsea Breen, Georgia Breen, Jacob Broderick, Gracie Ciantar, Daniel Coumi, Lilli-Jean Cruise, Jordan Delacy, Chloe Dunford, Cassidy Ferris, Lainey Grieve, Cody Hall, Liam Hallink, Jack James, Christian Jensen, Chelsea Lewis, Holly Lubcke, Patrick Mackie, Declan Martin, Molly McCaughey, Lincoln McKenzie, Patrick McKenzie, Caitlin Moore, Abigail Moss, Noah Moss, Ethan Palmer, Josiah Rogers, Madeleine Roulston, Hayley Rowe, Bryce Sambrook, Coby Schmeichel, Renea Stephens, Nicole Theunissen and Ryan Trevisan.
