Was your child born with a manual on how to raise them? Mine either.
That would be an awful lot of child-rearing manuals across the world as each child born is unique and special, especially in the eyes of God.
God may not have given us individual manuals, however, He did give us some very important guidelines for raising children – all of them relevant today.
The most important thing you can do for your child is to pray for them. Daily! This is a tumultuous world we live in, that they are growing up in.
Every week I will put some parenting tips here in this blog to just maybe give you a hand.
I am not a perfect parent, nobody is. We all make mistakes along the way; however, I have learnt an awful lot raising three children to adulthood and teaching for 30+ years. My tips are not from me, but from the knowledge I gained from others on the journey of raising children.
I hope they can be helpful to you too.
TIP ONE:
Your child is an important part of your family, just like you are as well. They are NOT the centre of the family. It is important that they are not treated like the centre of the universe (as much as we believe they are to us). If we treat them like that now as children, they will expect it as adults, and the real world is not like that at all. We are all special in God’s eyes, we all have a role to play – including children. It is our purpose to raise them to be responsible, respectful, functioning adults in the real world. Tough job but also a blessing to be given such an important job.
Until next time……
