Hadley Smith competed against the best young 10 – 12 year old tennis players in the State when she competed at the Qld Schools State Tennis Championships held in Caloundra recently.
At only 10 years old, Hadley was one of the youngest players competing but she was certainly not outclassed on this stage. After finishing 5th in the Sunshine Coast trials she was invited to play for the Peninsula Regional team as they needed another experienced player in their team.
Hadley had a massive four days of competition at the Caloundra Tennis Centre where she played singles and mixed doubles games. She won four of her seven singles matches which was a fantastic result especially when she played mostly 12 year old girls. She finished 35th from nearly 50 female 10 – 12 year old players which she is very proud of.
Hadley and her Pennisula mixed doubles partner played four games, winning one game but this was fun and a great experience for her.
Tennis is Hadley’s favourite sport so training is something she loves and she also competes several times each week. She is looking forward to competing in this competition next year and will continue to play club and representative tennis which she enjoys.
