Glasshouse Christian College Performing Arts Tour

17 excited Senior Arts students travelled to the Gold Coast at the end of the last term for the 2021 GCC Arts Tour. Our first workshop was at the Queensland Theatre Company and MAAD dance company both located in the heart of Brisbane. Drama students took on the challenge to learn combat fighting techniques for live theatre, whilst the dance students put on their dance shoes for a jazz and heel workshop. The first day ended with an eye-opening backstage tour of how the technical ins and outs of the Australian Outback Spectacular performance ran. The live show accompanied by a three-course meal was enjoyed by all.

Day two was just as exciting as the first. ArtVo was a photographic experience with hand-painted illusions that immerse you into a different world. HOTA showcased local works from artists based on the Gold Coast. The day ended with the quintessential free time to shop at Pacific Fair followed by dinner at Jamie Oliver’s Pizzeria.

With a walk on the beach and coffee, day three started off strong. The students enjoyed the day ‘sipping and painting’ a sunset landscape with the delicious delicacies of poppers, chips and cookies. This worked up an appetite for lunch and a visit to Infinity, a maze full of mirrors, lasers and dark rooms. Our day ended with a tour of the Gold Coast canals on the aqua duck. To finish the trip the group headed to Movie World on our final day!
