Congratulations to three more students who have completed certificates in recent weeks.
Jon Lythall and Chris White in Year 12 have completed a traineeship at the Queensland Institute of Aviation Engineering including a Certificate II in Aeroskills. This is a great achievement and a fantastic first step into this fascinating and sought after field. We wish them all the best with their future aspirations in the engineering and technical field.
Congratulations also to Louise Kerr in Year 12. In addition to an OP program, Louise has been studying on-line with TAFE to complete a Certificate III in Allied Health. This involved covering considerable theory content in her own time and also completing a lot of work placement to supplement her theory work. Louise has juggled this around her other school studies and many commitments outside of school. Well done Louise.
Year 9 Parent and Student Night Tuesday 29 October.
Our Year 9s are rushing to the end of their Middle School years. In Term 1 next year they will be going out for a week of work experience. Arrangements for this will be commencing shortly. There will be an information session on Tuesday 29 October at 6pm in the theatrette (H3) to explain to parents and students how this works and what is involved. Please keep this date free. More information will be coming home soon.
Year 10 Mock Interviews
This year the Year 10 students have had many experiences around the topic of careers and subject selections. To round off our program of workplace education all Year 10s will be participating in mock job interviews next Wednesday 16 October. Guests from workplaces outside the College have generously agreed to come along to the school and provide a genuine interview experience for each student to help them improve their skills in preparing for, and attending an interview. Students are encouraged to wear clothes suitable for a job interview and in every way present themselves and their documents as if for a real vacancy. Students spent a whole day prior to the school holidays to develop skills which will hopefully serve them well next week and into the future. Parents wishing to support their students in this activity can go to Moodle to see information and document templates of assistance to job seekers. The link is: Moodle.gccc.qld.edu.au/students/future pathways/Year 10 Job Applications and Interviews – and log in as a guest. While there, have a look at other terrific resources for students and school leavers on our Moodle page.
