3… 2… 1… BLAST OFF!

Grade 4 had an out-of-this-world time during our exciting Its Rockets incursion with Cran Middlecoat!

The students were bursting with excitement as they launched their rockets soaring through the air. Students explored the science behind rockets and learned about aerodynamics, discovering how the shape and design of a rocket can affect the way it flies.

We also became force detectives! Students investigated contact and non-contact forces and discovered how different forces can make objects move, slow down or change direction. We learned that gravity is a non-contact force that pulls our rockets back towards the ground, while forces such as the push used to launch a rocket are contact forces.

But the fun didn’t stop there! Our budding scientists conducted a fair test, launching their rockets and carefully recording their flight times. Students watched closely, compared their results and cheered as their rockets zoomed through the air!

There were plenty of smiles, laughs and moments of excitement as we tested, measured, observed and learned together. It was fantastic to see Grade 4 putting their scientific thinking into action while having an absolute blast!

What an amazing day of rockets, forces, science and fun!
