Open Day may seem a long way in the future with significant events like the Anzac Day service and march upon us however, Saturday 15 May is only three weeks away! The biggest event in the College calendar begins at 10am and finishes at 2pm so here are my five tips to make the most of Open Day.
1. Plan your time.
Here is our Open Day program. If your child is performing, allow plenty of time to see them in action and fit other activities around the program.

2. Imagine the future.
Just because your child is in Primary School does not mean you have to limit your tours to this area. Show them their future by visiting the Secondary specialist classrooms like the Engineering block, Science laboratories, industrial kitchens for Hospitality and the Visual Art and Textiles classrooms.
Don’t limit your sightseeing to the GCC campus. We have two tours scheduled for our Agricultural Science farm in Peachester. You will be amazed at the variety of produce, animals and technology our high school students learn about in their ‘Ag’ studies. Bookings for these tours are essential so click here if you want to see our farm.
3. Bring your friends.
Open Day is not just for existing or prospective students and their families, everyone is welcome. Bring your friends who may live in different school districts and show off your children’s school. Enjoy the performances and buy lunch from the food trucks or purchase a sausage from our P and F barbeque. There will even be a high tea stall run by our P and F. GCC’s Open Day will be one of the biggest events in Beerwah this year so make a day of it with friends and family.
4. Take a sneak peek inside our performance hall.
Until now you have only seen photos and videos of the inside of our new performance hall. The building is still under construction but we are organising for visitors to have a sneak peek inside before the building is finished. We are still not sure as to the extent we will be able to show you through the building but you will be amazed by what you see. The photos don’t do it justice.
5. Learn more about GCC.
As parents and caregivers, you will know a lot about your child’s school area but there is so much more to learn. Discover opportunities that are available now or in the future as your children grow older. Meet staff who may be one of your child’s future teachers and visit their future classrooms. Find out about leadership opportunities and Student Voice, meet other parents and learn more about our amazing P and F.
I’m excited about this year’s Open Day. It is good to gather in person again to enjoy each other’s company, celebrate God’s blessings upon our College and be proud of our students’ achievements and performances.
See you on Saturday 15 May.
