This week was a special time in Lower Primary where we were able to celebrate our fathers with a special Father’s Day chapel service. It was a great time with the students eagerly ready to show their fathers what they mean to them. The Preps performed a cute song about Father’s Day, the Year 1 students recited a meaningful poem about following their father’s footsteps and the Year 2s shared via video their dad’s best characteristics in a unique and humourous way. We also had a song by the Little Voices choir, some praise and worship with the chapel band and a video from the Pastors interviewing the students on their favourite way to spend time with their dads.
Pastor Rob shared a message for both the kids and dads in the service about the important role of a dad in a child’s life, with the standout point being “love is spelled T-I-M-E”. We were also encouraged that whether we are younger or older, we have a heavenly Father, God, who is “a father to the fatherless” (Psalm 68:5). With Father’s Day approaching on Sunday, it was a great time to show thankfulness for our dads, for their special role in our lives, and a reminder that we have a perfect heavenly Father who shows us perfect love, not just on Father’s Day, but every day.
We love you dads!
