The phased return to school has been a smooth and successful process and children are settling back into normal routines. The increased independence of the children going to classrooms unassisted has been a change but I would like to thank all our parents for assisting and for helping with this by limiting their presence on the campus. I am sure that we will be back to normal at the start of Term 3.
Although it feels as if we have just got back to some sense of normality, the winter school holidays are just around the corner and we will all be heading home again. Before the end of the term is upon us, here is some important information:
REPORTING
Semester 1 reports will be released for all students in the Primary School at the end of the term. This semester we have changed the way we report student progress with the aim of creating a more relevant and easy to understand reporting system.
We know that it has not been business as usual in our schools, but the learning from home and at school over the semester has been taken into account when making an on-balance judgment of a student’s progress for this semester, while also recognising that the progress is indicative. Conducting assessments in a remote learning environment are complex. Consequently, this report may support progress decisions rather than attainment.
When reading the report, please be aware some subject areas have been covered but not assessed. This will be represented as N/A on the report.
Please also note that the reading benchmark levels for 2020 have been adjusted and this may be reflected in the reading grade on the report.
PARENT/TEACHER TELEPHONE MEETINGS TERM 3
Parent/Teacher interviews will be taking place in Week 2 Term 3 and the focus of discussions with parents will be on how your child faired learning from home, settling back into school, current levels of student progress and goals for Term 3.
The interviews will be conducted by phone and are optional. Face to face interviews will take place at the end of Term 3.
Phone meetings will be held on:
Tuesday 21 July from 3:30pm – 6:15pm
Wednesday 22 July from 3:30pm – 6:15pm
You will be able to book consecutive appointments and teachers will call you at your scheduled time. The booking sheet will be shared with parents on Monday 6 July.
GATEWAY
Have you downloaded the new Gateway app? You can find it in the app store now! You will be able to access timely news articles and notices about things that are happening in classrooms and at school.
As we meet at the gate or wave across the car park, engage in friendly chats, share words of encouragement and take care of each other, it is such a privilege to lead the Primary School supported by wonderful parents and working alongside an amazing staff.
Have a wonderful holiday and I look forward to the time when we see each other again.
