Emma selected for State Cross Country Championships

Eleven of our best cross country runners competed at the Sunshine Coast Regional Cross Country Championships held at Buderim recently. The pace was hot in every race with some of the best athletes in the state competing in these races.

Emma Small ran an amazing race leading for most of the way before taking a wrong turn but she was very happy to finish in second place in the 14 year girls race. Emma made the race look easy with her smooth and effortless running style running the 4 km race in 16.39! Emma is looking forward to competing in her first Cross Country State Championships. Jacob Kaukereit also ran a great race running the 15 Yr boys 4km race in a super fast time of 15.04. He placed 7th in this race just missing selection into the Regional team by one placing.

Izaac Kwarcianyi was our top placegetter running a fantastic race to place 13th overall from a field of 40 athletes. He ran a similar time as he did at the District Cross Country showing consistency of pace.

Hayden Cullen also ran a great race finishing 23rd from 60 athletes competing in his 12 year age group. These boys ran at 3.30m/km pace which is super fast. This pulled Hayden through to a personal best time by 20 seconds running 12.11 for the three kilometre race.

Eadie Townsend, Flynn Lewis and Sophie Sharma all finished in the middle of the field in their races representing the Glasshouse District with pride. Everyone in the team ran their very best against very tough opposition.

The full team competing were Emma Small, Jacob Kaukereit, Izaac Kwarcianyi, Bailey Whitmey, Lachlan Brewster, Hayden Cullen, Flynn lewis, Eadie Townsend, Sophie Sharma, Indigo Hetherington and Madyson Pearce.
