First Nations Family Fun Day
Join the Kabi Kabi and Jinibara First Nations People for a fun-filled day of cultural learning with games, dancing, and craft activities for all ages. This special event, part of the lead-up to the Australian Heritage Festival, will be held in the beautiful grounds of Bankfoot House.

Find a Story Seat

Visit the latest Story Seat at Power Memorial Park at Mudjimba. Featuring artwork from Mad Magpie by Gregg Dreise, this colourful seat brings the story of Guluu, a magpie learning to overcome bullying, to life.

Story Seats are part of the First 5 Forever literacy program, designed to encourage young children to enjoy books, storytelling, and play. Found in parks across the Sunshine Coast, they provide a terrific way for families to read together and nurture early literacy skills. See the Story Seat Map for details.

Write Like an Author

Join award-winning author T. M. Clark for a creative writing camp at Immanuel Lutheran College on Monday, 7 April 2025. Children aged 7-10 years will have the opportunity to develop and write stories with guidance from T. M. Clark, known for her captivating literature about diverse cultures and wildlife. The 1-day camp promises a fun, supportive environment where kids can make new friends and enhance their storytelling skills.
Young writers will learn:
- How to come up with story ideas
- How to plan and outline a story
- How to come up with interesting, sympathetic characters
- The writing process, how to put it all down on paper

Spark your curiosity at SparkLab, an interactive STEM space designed for 6 to 13-year-olds at the Queensland Museum Kurilpa. With 40 hands-on exhibits across three exciting zones, you’ll explore the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and maths in everyday life. Watch live experiments at the Science Bar and put your creativity to the test at the Maker Space, where you can build, experiment, and solve challenges using the Design Process.
