The District Athletics Carnival involving athletes from 11 independent secondary schools was held at the university athletics track in perfect conditions. This year GCCC was represented by a talented group of athletes that certainly made an impact over the two-days of competition.
On both days we had some excellent results with several athletes finishing their events within the top three placings. Ella Mickelson put in a standout performance with the Javelin. In the process of taking out first place, she also smashed the District Carnival’s long standing record by a huge 7 meters. The record now stands at 31.80m and should stay intact for many years to come.
GCCC this year are able to boast age champions in Ryan Sauer and Ella Mickelson. These two athletes were able to record successful performances over a variety of events throughout the day. A special mention should also be made of Cameron Shervey who finished runner-up to Ryan.
Other commendable results are as follows…
|Ryan Sauer||3rd Discus, 2nd Triple Jump, 1st High Jump, 2nd 100m, 1st 400m, 1st Long Jump, 1st Shot Put, 1st 200m|

Amongst the age results it should be noted that our 13 years boys exceled to finish in 3rd place behind St Andrews Anglican College and just 2 points behind Matthew Flinders Anglican College. Their massive points tally was no doubt helped along by their success in winning the 4 x 100m relay. Well-done boys!
Congratulations to all Athletes that represented GCCC at this event. It was fantastic to see every team member compete to the best of their ability and we are very proud of your efforts.
