Lachlan McWilliam has excelled in the 2017 Department of Agriculture and Fisheries Plant Science Competition, winning the Conference Award which entitles him to up to $1000 towards attending the 2017 Trop Ag Conference in Brisbane. Lachlan also won a QATC TASTE Scholarship worth $495 and his research gained a Highly Commended Award. Overall, an outstanding achievement for Lachlan and we are so incredibly proud of him!
Lachlan investigated the role of soil texture on plant growth and also nitrogen release rates from various fertilisers with different coatings. His investigation was sponsored by Ecogrowth Fertilisers who were keen to have the efficiency of their product understood. Lachlan certainly shows incredible promise in the future Agricultural industry. He will be accepting his awards at the DAF Hermitage Research Station at Warwick in the coming month.
This year a Primary team of Lachlan McGilvray, Macauley King and Jacob McGilvray entered the 2017 Department of Agriculture and Fisheries Plant Science Competition and have achieved a Highly Commended Award! These three young scientists investigated different soil types and plant growth, as well as soil micro-organisms in different environments. They certainly enjoyed getting their hands dirty! They will be receiving a certificate and medallion each for their amazing work.
