During the holidays “Collision Youth” (GCBC’s Youth Ministry) took sixteen highly motivated Christian teens to the Bunya Mountains for the first ever “Deeper Discipleship Camp”.
The group lived in a mountain chalet for three days, soaking up the atmosphere of the Bunyas and getting stuck into the bible. We went through six study sessions during the camp tackling these subjects:
- Quiet Times – How to read your bible effectively
- The Gravity of Sin
- Understanding Grace
- Who we are in Christ
- Dealing with Persecution
- Understanding our Mission
The teens found the discussion times and study sessions incredibly valuable to their Christian walk and are excited about applying what they have learned in their personal lives and at school.
It wasn’t all fun and games however. We also did boring stuff like going for a hike to some waterfalls, lighting fires, shenanigans at a swimming area, playing pool (and something that vaguely resembled table tennis), and shooting each other with explosive missiles… on Mario Kart Wii!
Numbers were limited due to the size of our accommodation so many teens missed out this year. The good news is that due to the great success of this camp, another is already being planned for next year!
We would like to thank GCCC for its ongoing partnership in developing our Christian teens in their faith and share the message of Jesus love with our town.
We also wish to thank our P&C for the use of their large cool box. The job of storing food for teenage boys was made a lot easier because of your generosity.
