Damian Tomokino has been selected in the Sunshine Coast Schools 12 year rugby league team after the regional trials in Redcliffe last week. Damian, Brodie Marshall and Daemon Cruise were all selected to represent the Glasshouse District at the regional trials where Sunshine Coast teams were selected. The boys played three games over the two day carnival against other Sunshine Coast districts.
Daemon played in the 11 year team which won games against Nambour and Noosa but were beaten by the much bigger Redcliffe team. This was a great result for the young team. Daemon played in the 5/8ths position and gained much confidence from this competition.
Damian and Brodie also played three games. Their first game was against Independent, where they had a 12-6 win. The second game was against Nambour which they lost but never gave up. Their 3rd and final game was against Caboolture, this side had the biggest players in the tournament. Glasshouse lost 16-0 but they fought all the way.
Damian played really well in all three games. His tackling and defence was awesome. He had some really good runs and tried his hardest in all 3 games. Six months of training paid off! Damian was selected to play in the possibles and probables game where he impressed the selectors by continuing to demonstrate his ability and determination in all areas of the game.
Damian is excited about being selected and is looking forward to training with the team in preparation for the State Championships to be held on the Gold Coast at the end of June. He will have the opportunity to be selected for the Queensland Schoolboys U12 side if he plays well in this tournament.
