Our annual Book Fair was held in the library this week as we commenced the 2022 Book Week celebrations. Book Fair catered for a wide range of reading interests and abilities and gave students a hands-on book buying experience. Choice was the key as students were encouraged to select best-fit books. Primary and secondary students visited to browse and purchase items before and after school and during lunch breaks, with Primary students completing a wish list of their top picks during a class session.
This year Lincoln Rawlins from 3W was our special guest author at the Book Fair. Lincoln wrote a story for the Secret Oasis Festival in Coolum earlier this year that would go on to become his first picture book called Sprout’s Idea. Lincoln’s book has all the ingredients that an engaging narrative needs to captivate and inspire young readers with a focus on teamwork, hope and combating negativity with positivity and kindness. Cara Ords’ illustrations bring Lincoln’s characters to life and made Sprout’s Idea a top choice on many Book Fair wish lists.
The Prep Maroon students enjoyed having their Year 6W buddies assist at their Book Fair preview and purchase session. The Year 6 students did a fabulous job guiding the Prep book choices and reading with students once they’d completed their wish lists. Thank you all for your purchases and orders, they were greatly appreciated. Whether a purchase through Book Club, Book Fair or a library loan – we greatly value your partnership in working towards building a reading culture at home and school.
