Last weekend Little Athletics Queensland held the McDonald’s State Championships in Townsville with the following students representing the Glasshouse District Little Athletics Club. The McDonald’s State Championships are held annually in Brisbane and every 4 years in North Queensland. U9 – U17 athletes qualify to compete by achieving 1st – 4th place in the Regional Championships. It is the final major competition where athletes from all corners of the State take part in the hope of becoming the State Champion in their chosen event.
The Glasshouse District Little Athletics Club had a strong contingent of 23 athletes competing in a wide range of events, with parents and officials travelling with them. The dedication and efforts of the athletes are to be highly commended. They competed with skill and confidence, achieving fantastic results and many Personal Bests (PB), with loads of fun and friendship along the way. It was a memorable event for Club Captain Joshua McKellar and Maddy Small who finished their journey as U17s with the club this season.
