This May our Year 3, 5, 7 and 9 cohorts have been participating in NAPLAN. For our Year 3 and 5 students, this was their first ever NAPLAN experience. For our Year 7s and 9s, they haven’t completed NAPLAN since they were in grades 3 and 5! This is because NAPLAN was cancelled back in 2020 due to COVID concerns, way back when the virus first arrived on Australian soil.
Over two weeks, students were tested on their Writing skills with a creative writing piece, their Reading and Comprehension, their understanding of Grammar, and of course some Maths skills. They worked hard to show their knowledge, understanding and skills, all while handling, like pros, disruptions such as weather concerns and a school shut down! We should be very proud of all our students’ achievements this year.
Individual student results will be available in Gateway when they are released later in the school year. For our Year 9 cohort, this marks the end of their NAPLAN journey. I think they look pretty happy about it, too; don’t you?
