Big News in Ag Science
Our senior Ag Science Department were recently successful in winning an Engaging Science Grant as part of the Queensland Government’s initiative “Engaging Queenslanders in Science”. Their project titled “Agritech” involved the purchase of, and expert training on, a drone equipped with an NDVI camera capable of collecting data from local farms which was then analysed by students to assist the farmers with producing healthier crops.
The students must now present their project and research to industry specialists, research scientists, Queensland Government representatives and local participating farmers. They will present their Agritech Day on June 1 which will commence with a Farm Tour followed by our Ag Student Presentation and finished with our Farmers Harvest Luncheon in the field prepared by our Hospitality students and featuring their key produce of strawberries, pineapples, custard apples, macadamias, finger limes and ginger.
We wish them all every success on the day and know that the future of farming is in good hands.
