A Warm Welcome to Some of our New Teachers

Cassandra Lindsay – Secondary Math Teacher

Cassandra Lindsay is passionate about empowering every child to reach their potential and strive for greatness. She is actively involved in her local church as the Kids Coordinator and, along with her family, manages a small farm cultivating citrus, bananas, and avocados.

Erin Holland – Primary Teacher – Year 3

My name is Erin Holland. I come from a long line of educators, so it came as no surprise when I decided that I wanted to become a teacher. Fostering a child’s innovation, creativity and confidence is one of the most rewarding things a person can do. I am extremely lucky that I am again part of GCC – a school where I believe God really works wonders. Some of my interests include filmmaking, dance fitness, Japanese cuisine, writing, and going to the beach. I am excitedly looking forward to a wonderful year of learning and laughter with 3W!

Lisa Allum – Honours Program Teacher

I have been a teacher for over 16 years and have worked specifically with high ability learners since 2015, holding a Masters degree in Gifted Education. In addition to my roles in schools, I lead gifted education courses for teachers throughout Australia as an Academic Presenter appointed by the University of NSW.  I am passionate about being an advocate for students with diverse learning needs and I am very much looking forward to working alongside GCC students in their areas of passion. I thrive on building strong connections with students and providing opportunities that motivate, challenge and inspire.

I have recently relocated from Sydney with my family to the beautiful Sunshine Coast. Life at home is never dull with two energetic young boys who, like me, love living an active outdoor lifestyle. I have recently taken up ocean swimming thanks to the warm Queensland water temperatures. I also enjoy reading, playing the piano and striving to know Christ and be more like Him.

Carlene Jansen – Primary Teacher – Year 2

What a joy and blessing to be part of the Glasshouse Christian College community.

I grew up in Tasmania with my family – including a menagerie of pets such as mice, rabbits, cats, dogs, and birds. My favourite subject at school was music and in my free time you would find me running, bike riding, playing backyard cricket, or reading my favourite childhood book, ‘Wind in the Willows.’

Before I began teaching I trained in Child Care and worked at a number of childcare centres. After that, I went to Bible College. At Bible College, I had the experience of going to the Philippines on a short-term mission trip. It was amazing to experience a different culture and even more amazing to teach the children Bible stories with an interpreter! I moved to Queensland and studied teaching at Christian Heritage College and since then have taught at Christian schools in both Queensland and Tasmania.

I met my husband Rob while studying teaching. As a married couple, we lived 10 years in Tasmania and 12 years in Queensland. We have two beautiful girls who are 18 and 16. As a family we love camping, hanging out at the beach, playing Monopoly Deal, attending church, and spending time with our friends.

In my spare time you will find me walking along the beach, painting, watering my many plants, and looking after my family.

I am looking forward to teaching my year 2 class alongside the year 2 team and the College community of staff, students, and parents.

Andrew Kirby – Head of Design and Technologies

My name is Andrew Kirby and I am an Industrial Design and Technology Teacher. We moved from Toowoomba to The Glass House Mountains over the Christmas break. I am married to Elisabeth and we have two adult children, Dan and Meg. Dan is in his third year studying Physiotherapy and Meg is in her final year at The Conservatorium of Music at Southbank studying music. Her major is singing and songwriting. My wife is also a teacher and her specialties are music and vocal coaching. She is currently teaching at St Paul’s Lutheran Primary School in Caboolture as a classroom music teacher.

We moved to the Sunshine Coast because we have always enjoyed the beach. Elisabeth and I decided that Hinterland living would best suit us as we enjoy riding motorcycles together. We are excited to explore this beautiful region on two wheels. As well as motorcycle riding, I enjoy playing guitar and drums.

I am looking forward to working in a Christian environment where I can speak freely about my faith. I have a passion for teaching Engineering and STEM using emerging technologies such as 3D printers, Laser Cutters CNC Routers, and Plasma Cutters. I am very excited to work at a school that has these resources available to students.
