We are very proud of the GCC students who competed at the Queensland State Athletics Championships held recently in Brisbane.
Lainey Grieve and Amy Trevan both competed in the 12-year-old girls high jump against very talented jumpers from all over Queensland. The girls both jumped 1.38m and finished 7th equal which was a great achievement.
After winning the 13-year-old girls high jump at the Sunshine Coast Regional Carnival, Ebony King placed 6th jumping 1.52m which was a fantastic result. A new record of 1.72m was set by the winner of this event! Sophie Trevan also competed in the 15-year-old girls high jump and finished in 13th position jumping 1.50m.
Tash Hoeksema placed 2nd on the Sunshine Coast and finished 6th in her heat and 12th overall in the 17-year-old girls 400m, with a personal best time of 62.65.
Cassidy Ferris competed in the 13-year-old javelin and finished 12th and Otto Coulstock finished 5th in the 18-year-old boys 400m. Otto and Tash were very proud to compete in these championships as it is their first time competing at these championships and also their last year at GCC.
